Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Five days after the Lindsay Clancy mistrial, a Timcast IRL panelist told the audience that postpartum depression is what happens when you don't eat the right foods. We rate that mostly-false — truth score 0.15, confidence 0.88 — and the reason it isn't simply false is the part of it that's true. The claim ran at 1:19:21 in the 9 September 2026 episode "Russian ATTACK On NATO Country THWARTED, WW3 Fears Debated w/ James Klug." Our transcript resolves the segment to a single speaker channel but not to a named panelist, so we do not name one.The kernel is real: lactation costs bone mineral density (roughly 3-5%), observational studies do find protective associations for healthy diets and for vitamin D, B12 and zinc, and American postpartum care genuinely is inadequate. Where the claim breaks is everything stacked on top. NIMH names no single cause for perinatal depression and does not list nutrition among the causes. Cochrane found insufficient evidence for any dietary supplement to prevent postnatal depression. The USPSTF gives counseling a B recommendation while finding limited or mixed evidence for supplements. MooDFOOD (n=1,025) found multinutrient supplementation did not prevent major depressive disorder. And the claim collapses two different illnesses — postpartum depression at 10-30% of mothers, postpartum psychosis at 1-2 per 1,000, with the largest measured risk factor being lost sleep around delivery in women with bipolar illness, roughly a five-fold increase. Then the segment runs the law backwards: if food is the cause, illness is a compliance failure, and the defendant authored her own crime. That conversion is the subject of the episode.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Louder with Crowder said there was "a multi 100% increase in H1 B's" under Biden. We rate it mostly-false — truth score 0.20, confidence 0.85.USCIS petition approvals went from 426,710 in FY2020 to 399,402 in FY2024: a 6% decline, not a several-hundred-percent rise. The claim comes from the 8 September 2026 episode "Trump Lays Down Gauntlet As Canada Secretly Starts Military Collaboration with China," at 1:09:25, inside a monologue about whether the two parties differ on immigration. We steelman it first. One H-1B series genuinely did move: State Department consular issuance fell to roughly 108,000 in FY2021 — under COVID and Trump's Proclamation 10052 entry ban — then rebounded to 265,777 by FY2023, about 145 percent. And initial-employment denial rates fell from 24% in FY2018 to 4% in FY2021 and 2% in FY2022. The permissiveness shift is real and documented. What fails is the volume claim. USCIS approvals across FY2020–FY2024 (426,710 / 407,071 / 442,043 / 386,340 / 399,402) span roughly 14 percent peak to trough, with two Biden years below Trump's FY2020. The cap on new cap-subject H-1Bs — 65,000 plus 20,000 for U.S. advanced-degree holders — hasn't changed since 2004, and Congress sets it, not the president. Even the most favourable metric yields 145 percent, measured from a floor installed by the previous administration's own entry ban.Six weeks earlier the same show said "roughly 200%" (also rated mostly-false, 0.20). The multiplier grew; nothing in the record moved. We could not establish which series the speaker had in mind — "multi 100%" matches no published H-1B figure we could find, and we don't claim to know its origin.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Verdict: mixed. Truth score 0.35. Ted Cruz's murder figure is close to the FBI's; his overdose figure is inflated by about six points. The three words joining them to border policy — "as a consequence" — are a causal claim the agencies supplying the numbers decline to make.On the P.A.S. Report (3 September 2026, at 26:17), Senator Ted Cruz says border crossings fell 99% and "as a consequence" the nationwide murder rate dropped 20% and overdose deaths dropped 20%. No source is cited. The steelman is strong. FBI data released 14 August 2026 show 2025 murder offenses down 18.1% and the murder rate down 18.5% — the largest one-year decline since the series began in 1936, with a rate of 4.1 per 100,000. Jeff Asher's Real-Time Crime Index read about 20%. Overdose deaths fell for a third consecutive year, to 69,973. The border reduction is real and very large. What fails: the overdose decline was 13.9%, not 20%, and no published window yields 20% — the ~35-37% figure only appears if you measure from the 2022-23 peak, a window spanning the previous administration. Both declines began in 2023. Adam Gelb of the Council on Criminal Justice: "The homicide drop is historic and crystal clear. But right now, what's driving it is about as clear as a glass of milk." And the mechanism runs backwards on the evidence: Texas 2013-2022 homicide convictions ran 2.2 per 100,000 for illegal immigrants versus 3.0 for the native-born; 85% of fentanyl is seized at ports of entry with U.S. citizens over 80% of trafficking convictions; Canada's opioid deaths fell 23% in 2025 without U.S.-style enforcement.Nobody has established what caused the murder decline — including the people arguing against Cruz.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.PBD Podcast #852 said Donald Trump has been accused of a great deal and "never charged with anything." We rate that mostly-false, truth score 0.25.The narrow version — never criminally charged with a sex offence — is true. The sentence as spoken is not: four indictments, 88 counts, 34 felony convictions, and a civil sexual-abuse judgment paid in full ten weeks before the episode aired. In a Lindsay Clancy segment on 7 September 2026, the host lists accusations against Trump, says "never accused of anything," hears the wrong word, and repairs it to "never charged with anything." In audio, a live self-correction reads as precision — here it produced the stronger false claim instead of the weaker true one.We steelman the narrow reading before we land the verdict. No prosecutor anywhere has brought a criminal sex charge against Trump. The 2016 "Katie Johnson" child-rape filings were dismissed or voluntarily withdrawn without ever being tested, and their provenance is genuinely compromised — the publicist promoting them, "Al Taylor," was later confirmed to be Norm Lubow, a former Jerry Springer producer. Ghislaine Maxwell, questioned by DOJ in July 2025, said she never witnessed the President in any inappropriate setting. What fails is the word "anything." A Manhattan jury convicted Trump on 34 felony counts on 30 May 2024; he was sentenced to an unconditional discharge on 10 January 2025 and the conviction stands. A federal jury found him liable in May 2023 for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll. The Supreme Court denied cert on 29 June 2026, and more than $5.6 million was disbursed on 9 July 2026.This is record rounding: a real ledger of adjudications stated as zero, because only zero makes the argument automatic. Swap in "a sex offence" and the sentence is true — and the hypocrisy point still works.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Michael Knowles says police killings of innocent Black people "statistically never happens." We rate that mostly-false — truth score 0.15, confidence 0.85.The public overestimate he is correcting is real and measured. The zero he replaces it with is contradicted by every tracker that counts. On September 5, 2026, in "Michael REACTS To Unhinged Liberals... Is This Mental Illness?" (17:41), Knowles tells listeners to "take a look at the crime statistics" and then says killings of innocent Black people by police never happen and have not for a very long time. No source is cited anywhere in the segment. The steelman first: Skeptic Research Center surveys found 53% of "very liberal" respondents put the 2019 figure at 1,000 or more unarmed Black men killed by police; in the 2021 wave, 40% of the very liberal and 27% of Gen Z still guessed 1,000+. That is an error of roughly two orders of magnitude, and Knowles is correcting it. Heather Mac Donald's "no epidemic" case, Roland Fryer's 2016 finding of no racial gap in shootings once context is included, and the City Journal audit of the Post's "unarmed" coding are all real disputes over the right denominator and the right definitions. But each of those arguments concedes the incidents occur and attaches a number to them. Mapping Police Violence's year-end report counts 1,314 people killed by police in 2025 — a 5% decline, the first in six years — with 98 unarmed and Black people making up 26% of the total, about three times the per-capita rate of white Americans. The Washington Post's Fatal Force database logged unarmed Black victims every year from 2015 through 2024, at least 135 since 2015. Peer-reviewed lifetime-risk estimates put a Black man's risk of being killed by police near 1 in 1,000. And on March 11, 2026, Boston officer Nicholas O'Malley was charged with manslaughter in the shooting of Stephenson King, described in court documents as unarmed with no weapon in the vehicle; O'Malley pleaded not guilty on March 19, bodycam footage has been impounded ahead of trial, and his account has not been tested in court. The distance between "14 a year, and here's why that's not systemic" and "statistically never happens" is the distance between a contestable argument and a false one.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Ted Cruz told the P.A.S. Report that Zohran Mamdani "wants to seize the means of production" and "is explicitly a communist." We rate that mostly-false — truth score 0.30, confidence 0.88.The quote Cruz is invoking is real. The word "explicitly" is what breaks. In February 2021, at a Young Democratic Socialists of America conference, then-assemblyman Mamdani listed "the end goal of seizing the means of production" among positions socialists believe in but where, in his words, "we do not have the same level of support at this very moment." The video is authentic. City Journal's Ken Girardin argues fact-checkers filed it under hyperbole too quickly, and an August 2020 remark about abolishing private property points in the same direction. Those are fair grounds to press him.But "explicitly" asserts a self-identification that is the opposite of the record. Mamdani has rejected the label on camera repeatedly — "No, I am not" on Meet the Press, "No, I'm a democratic socialist" on The View, the same on CNN. PolitiFact rated the communist characterization False and kept that rating after reviewing the resurfaced 2021 clip. As mayor, his July 2026 "OPEN for Small Business" package cut over 50 regulations for the city's small businesses, drawing praise from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and Reason. We also trace how the sentence travels: the June 2025 resurfacing, Cruz's own October 2025 version, Trump's November 2025 Oval Office reversal that the label survived, and the 2026 midterm turn. What Mamdani actually meant in that 2021 room is still unresolved — he has never elaborated, and we do not claim to know.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.A podcast claimed there have been "like 40 recorded cases in human history" of postpartum psychosis. We rate that false — truth score 0.03, confidence 0.96.The claim aired on Timothy Gordon Rules for Retrogrades, one day after the mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case, while the Plymouth County DA is still deciding whether to retry. We steelman it first, because there is something real underneath. The legal point is defensible: the US has no infanticide statute, insanity standards vary by state and are hard to meet, and successful postpartum-psychosis insanity defenses genuinely are uncommon in American case law. The condition is also not a standalone DSM-5 diagnosis, and "puerperal insanity" was removed from British diagnostic categories in 1906. There is a real historical seam here. But the sentence made a claim about a disease, not about case law. Population-based incidence runs 1 to 2 cases per 1,000 live births (systematic review range 0.89–2.6). Cleveland Clinic puts that at roughly 320 to 9,400 US cases per year — the most conservative figure in that range is eight times the speaker's total for all of human history, in one American year. Louis-Victor Marcé published the first textbook on postpartum psychiatric disorders in 1858; "puerperal insanity" accounted for roughly 6–10% of female admissions across nineteenth-century British public asylums; Danish registries track cohorts of 400,000 to 789,000 births; the UK maintains 22 dedicated inpatient Mother and Baby Units. We take no position on whether Lindsay Clancy had postpartum psychosis. Prosecution expert Dr. Avram Mack testified he found no evidence of it; the jury deadlocked 11–1 over seven days. The claim we are checking is not about her.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Kevin Roberts says the Smithsonian's women's history museum has a planned exhibit celebrating male athletes in women's sports. We rate that mostly false — truth score 0.2, confidence 0.75.The sentence is real and it's in a federal executive order. What isn't real is the exhibit, the museum building, or any source the order ever cited. On the 26 August 2026 episode of The Kevin Roberts Show with Larry O'Connor — "How We Take Back the Smithsonian From the Communists" — Roberts describes "a planned exhibit that will celebrate the achievement of male competitors in women's sports." O'Connor upgrades it: the women being honored "are actually men."The steelman is strong. Executive Order 14253, signed 27 March 2025, contains that assertion word for word. Interim director Lisa Sasaki did tell the New York Times in 2023 that the museum wanted to be inclusive of transgender women. And there is genuine Smithsonian trans-athlete content — the Nike-sponsored "Change YOUR Game," which puts Lia Thomas on a wall and asks visitors "fair or foul?"That exhibit is at the National Museum of American History. It's a visitor poll, not a celebration. And the executive order cited nothing at all: no planning document, no curator, no memo has surfaced in eighteen months. The women's history museum has no building and no site; its only launched exhibition is digital, profiling five historical women, none of them athletes. In May 2026 the House rejected the museum's authorizing bill 204–216 over the fight about this exact question. We do not know whether the White House had a source. We could not establish who directs the museum today. And our link between "Change YOUR Game" and the order's drafting is inference, not a documented chain.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.A Timcast IRL panelist relayed a YouTube argument that Allied bombing starved the camps and that the Allies didn't know they were there. His response: "That stuff could be true for all I know."We rate the proposition false — truth score 0.08, confidence 0.95 — and we give the real kernel its full weight before we land it.The claim was made at 58:10 of Timcast IRL, "Russia Declares For Iran In WAR Against U.S. WW3 Fears Escalate w/ Jesse on Fire," published 2 September 2026. Our transcript does not identify which panelist spoke, and we say so rather than guess. A co-panelist pushed back in the same exchange, correctly, that the Nazis kept meticulous records. The honest concession: in the final months, conditions at the western camps collapsed. Bergen-Belsen was built for 10,000 and held about 60,000 as death-march transports arrived. More than 35,000 people died there between January and mid-April 1945 — 18,168 in March alone. German transport really was wrecked, partly by Allied bombing. What that does not do is support the claim. Roughly 2.7 million Jews were murdered in purpose-built gassing facilities; of Operation Reinhard's ~1.7 million victims, 1.32 million were killed in August, September and October 1942 alone, about 15,000 a day — years before the bombing campaign peaked, and after which Treblinka, Belzec and Sobibor were dismantled. Roughly 1.5 million more were shot in the occupied East, with no camp and no supply line involved. In July 1942 Germany banned all non-military rail use for an offensive of 266 divisions, and still ran 5,000 Jews a day to Treblinka: deportation outranked an active military offensive. And on 17 December 1942, eleven Allied governments plus the French National Committee publicly condemned the "cold-blooded extermination" of Europe's Jews — twenty-eight months before Belsen was liberated. We also cover why this works: the most-seen photographs are of Belsen and Dachau, the camps where disease and starvation did dominate, while the crime's centre of mass was never filmed by a liberating army. And we look at the shrug itself — an assertion invites rebuttal; "I have no idea" doesn't, while the proposition still lands.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Verdict: mostly-false. Truth score 0.20, confidence 0.75.The Michael Knowles Show, 29 August 2026: guest Shabbos Kestenbaum disposes of the Gaza genocide question in four words — "Leaving aside, there is no genocide."The verdict is not a ruling that genocide has been legally established. We steelman the other side at full strength: no court has ruled, and none will soon. The ICJ has set South Africa's Reply for November 2027 and Israel's Rejoinder for May 2029, with jurisdiction and admissibility contested. The intent standard is high — genocidal intent must be the only reasonable inference. Benny Morris and other serious scholars dissent. The IAGS resolution passed on 108 affirmative votes out of roughly 500 members, and about 200 scholars called for its retraction. What we rate is the flat form. The UN Commission of Inquiry found in September 2025 that Israel committed four of the five prohibited acts in Article II, and in June 2026 found the genocide continuing. Amnesty International reached the same conclusion in December 2024. B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel — both Israeli — said so in July 2025. Omer Bartov, who wrote in November 2023 that there was "no proof that genocide is currently taking place," reversed after Rafah. The record is unresolved in court and substantial outside it. "Leaving aside" rounds it to zero.We also check the scaffolding in the same breath: Tigray's 300,000–800,000 estimate stated as 800,000; US aid to Ethiopia given as $15 million a year when it has exceeded $1.8 billion since FY2022; and a "0.8% of the budget" figure we could not match to any referent. One gap we are declaring: our transcript window cuts before Michael Knowles's full response to the line, so we have not established whether the host contested it, endorsed it, or moved past it.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Michael Knowles described measles in passing as a disease "which used to be not that big a deal... It was nothing. It was like the chicken pox." We rate that mostly-false, truth score 0.15, confidence 0.95.Pre-vaccine, measles and chickenpox each caused about 4 million U.S. cases a year — and measles produced roughly four to five times the hospitalizations and four to five times the deaths. The claim comes from The Michael Knowles Show, Ep. 2048 ("Trump Ranks the Best American Presidents"), published August 28, 2026, at the 26:12 mark. It is an eight-word aside inside a sentence whose actual subject is NBC News.We steelman it first. The cultural premise is true: before 1963 measles was near-universal and America treated it as routine, the 1969 Brady Bunch episode is real, and U.S. measles case-fatality genuinely did fall for decades before the vaccine — improved nutrition, antibiotics for secondary pneumonia, better hospital care. Chickenpox has its own real complication burden, including shingles decades later. And the Lancaster County coroner's dispute over one Pennsylvania infant death is genuine.Where it fails is the severity equivalence itself. CDC figures: measles pre-1963 ran 3-4 million cases a year with ~48,000 hospitalizations, ~1,000 cases of encephalitis and 400-500 deaths; chickenpox pre-1995 ran a comparable ~4 million cases with ~11,000 hospitalizations and ~100 deaths. Measles carries SSPE, a uniformly fatal complication appearing years later at 7-11 per 100,000 reported cases, which chickenpox has no equivalent to. And a 2019 Science study found infected children lost 11%-73% of their existing antibody repertoire. In 1969, the year the sitcom aired, the U.S. recorded more than 25,000 measles cases and 41 deaths. What we do not claim: whether the Pennsylvania infant died of measles. The coroner and the state health department disagree, and we treat that as unresolved.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Matt Walsh said Somalia has no Mall of America because Somalis are "too primitive to draw the blueprint." We rate that false — truth score 0.05, confidence 0.85.Mogadishu has enclosed malls operating today, 6,000+ new buildings in five years, and a mosque with a mihrab tile dated 1269.Episode 21:10. The claim comes from The Matt Walsh Show, Ep. 1830, "We Investigated The Collapse Of The American Mall," published 27 August 2026, at 15:51.We steelman it before we land the verdict. Somalia genuinely has nothing at the Mall of America's scale — a category almost no country enters, including most of Western Europe. Somalia is genuinely poor, about $637 GDP per capita in 2024 (World Bank). The mall fights are real, and so are the Minnesota fraud prosecutions. But the claim names a cause — inability to draw a blueprint — and that cause has no evidence behind it and a 750-year building record against it. Somali engineers are supervising high-rises in Hodan right now. Somalia's position is documented and traceable to state collapse in 1991 and three decades of war.The second half of the sentence fails as well. "We built it" describes a mall developed by the Ghermezians, an Iranian-Jewish immigrant family, through Canada's Triple Five Group — while Somali immigrants in Minneapolis converted a derelict machine shed into Karmel Mall, about 200 vendors, the largest concentration of Somali-owned businesses in the United States. We also cover the older version of this argument — the Great Zimbabwe excavations and the Hamitic hypothesis — and we say clearly what we could not establish: the broadcast source of the clip, which incident the footage shows, square footage figures for Mogadishu's malls, and the gap between $250M in prosecuted Minnesota fraud and a preliminary "more than half of ~$18 billion" investigative estimate.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.On the PBD Podcast (26 Aug 2026), guest Roman Yampolskiy said the US has more economic trade with China than with any other country. We rate that mostly-false, truth score 0.15: Census Bureau data for June 2026 puts China third at 6.6%, behind Mexico (17.0%) and Canada (12.9%).The statistic was scaffolding for a bigger argument — that a US-China treaty on frontier AI is achievable because the two economies are already fused. That argument has real support. China led the US trading-partner table from roughly 2014/2015-2018 and again in 2020, and PIIE's August 2026 policy brief finds China's direct share of US imports fell 7 points from 2017-2024 while Chinese value added in US imports fell only 2, with Taiwan, Vietnam and Mexico absorbing the rerouting. On the 2025 goods deficit, China was still #1 at $202.07B, about $5B ahead of Mexico. The specific claim still fails. Mexico has held the top spot since 2023; in 2025 US-China trade fell 28.74% to its lowest level since 2009 and dropped below 10% of US trade for the first time in more than three decades. The companion line — "everything we have is made in China" — is the weaker half: San Francisco Fed research puts "Made in China" goods at about 2.7% of US personal consumption spending, with roughly 55 cents of every such dollar going to US transport, retail and marketing. We do not score what we did not check: the speaker's intent (volume, deficit, or the world), the services-inclusive cut for 2026, and the companion line about not attacking 50 countries in 50 years are all left open in the brief. June 2026 is also a single unrevised month, and the trade truce expires around November 2026.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.At 53:04 on Louder with Crowder, the answer to "don't immigrants make us better?" is: "They poop in the streets and have a lower IQ."We rate that claim false. Truth score 0.04, confidence 0.85.Episode: "Trump's Immigration Wins Are Exposing The Immigrants that Hate Us," published 26 August 2026. The line arrives as a rebuttal to a panelist's own counterpoint, and it is chained immediately to a claim about Indian degree mills — which is the tell. Degree mills explain success as fraud; low IQ explains failure as nature. Run together, no observation can disconfirm either. We steelman the claim before landing the verdict. Cross-national ability measures do agree with each other: Rindermann (2007) found national means correlating r = .85-.86 across student assessments and IQ tests, and India's one PISA appearance (2009) placed two of its stronger states 72nd and 73rd of 74. But those measure school systems, not innate capacity, and neither reaches Indian immigrants to the United States. Every national IQ figure for India, roughly 76-82, comes from Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanhanen's database and nowhere else — a database a peer-reviewed audit found to use undocumented inclusion criteria, samples as small as 19, and non-comparable instruments, and which hereditarian Nathan Cofnas calls "profoundly flawed." Meanwhile 77% of Indian Americans 25+ hold a bachelor's or higher, with median household income of $151,200 in 2023. Open defecation in India has fallen from 73% of the population in 2000 to about 11% in 2022.We also trace both halves: the IQ half to a 2002 book, the sanitation half to a 4chan /int/ post dated 13 July 2015, and both to the 2024-26 H-1B fight that gave them a political vehicle. We do not name the individual speaker. The pipeline tags this to a diarization speaker on the panel, not to a confirmed person.

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.Louder with Crowder said 12 to 20 million people entered the US illegally under Biden in three years, then settled on 15 million. We rate it mostly-false, truth score 0.20.The actual record is still historic: an unauthorized population that went from 10.5 million in 2021 to 14 million in 2023 — the largest two-year rise ever recorded, and about a quarter of the claim's floor. In this 18:44 episode we take the claim at its strongest before we land on it. The House Homeland Security Committee's own factsheet counts 10.8 million nationwide encounters since FY2021 plus roughly 2 million known gotaways — about 12.8 million, the only arithmetic route to “12.” But those are events over four fiscal years, not people over three: in the first nine months of FY2021, CBP recorded 1,119,204 encounters and only 690,718 unique encounters, and roughly one in three encounters through April 2022 was a repeat crosser. Roughly 4.6 million people were removed, returned or expelled under Biden. More than 900,000 arrived on scheduled CBP One appointments at ports of entry, which is not illegal entry. Then the segment does the move that matters: “let's call it 15 million… in this country, illegal under Biden.” 15.8 million is the highest defensible estimate for every unauthorized resident in the United States, most of whom arrived long before 2021. Right magnitude, wrong quantity. A demographic condition acquires an author, a date and a betrayal arc.One thing nobody can settle: no agency publishes a count of unique people who crossed illegally and stayed. Every figure here is an event count, a modeled residual, or a survey estimate. The ~2 million gotaway number is produced by the agency whose performance it measures, and the legal status of the CBP One and parole cohorts has been in litigation since 2025.
